Do you offer an initial consultation?
Yes, I offer a free, initial phone conversation (of around 15 minutes). Please email me from the link on this page; or phone me on 07986 850882 (please do leave a message if I'm unable to answer and I'll get back to you as soon as possible).
How long is a session?
Psychotherapy sessions last for 50 minutes and I would reserve a time to work with you each week. Sessions usually take place at the same time each week. I offer weekly amd twice weekly psychotherapy.
What happens at our first session?
Our first session is a chance for you to begin to describe your situation; and for me to ask questions about what has happened in your life so far. There will be plenty of opportunity for you to ask any questions.
Who do you work with?
I work one-to-one with all kinds of people (over the age of 18).
Why do people come to psychotherapy?
People come to therapy for a wide variety of reasons, such as: loss, bereavement, relationship breakdown; addictions, eating problems, self-harm, phobias, obsessions; wanting to explore identity; anxiety, stress, panic attacks; feeling afraid, in crisis, in a state of breakdown; the impact of racism, homophobia, oppression, discrimination; experiencing anxiety, depression, or suicidal feelings; feeling empty, lonely, abandoned, unable to make lasting relationships; difficulties in family relationships; the impact of domestic violence, childhood sexual abuse and other trauma.
What happens if I miss or cancel a session?
For psychotherapy to be effective, sessions need a regular commitment. Payment is due for any sessions missed or cancelled by you (unless notified in advance, such as in the case of holidays). You do not pay for sessions when either of us are on holiday.
